Maria Sharapova qualifies for WTA’s Year End Championships

Maria Sharapova, the Russian professional tennis player and a former World No. 1. player, who has won 24 WTA singles titles, including 3 Grand Slam singles titles, she has as well won the year-end invitational WTA Tour Championships in 2004.

Russian Maria Sharapova the current World No. 2 player has qualified for the TEB-BNP Paribas WTA Championships that will be hosted at the state of the art Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul, Turkey.

the WTA’s year-end finale, will be held in Istanbul through 2013, and will feature the Top 8 singles players and Top 4 doubles teams challenging for the coveted title and a prize money of $5 million.

Caroline Wozniacki wTA Tour Championship No.1

Caroline Wozniacki secured the year-end number one spot in the world ranking on Thursday, becoming the first ever Dane to do so, but only after suffering an early fright at the WTA Tour Championships on Thursday.
For an hour, the 20-year-old top seed seemed in danger of going out of the event, until she worked out the clever tactical patterns of Francesca Schiavone, the French Open champion from Italy, and triumphed 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
